I love Pi

I also love pie. Apparently 2011 is the year of the Pie. Hey, I'm not making this up! Last year was the cupcake, this year is pie.

So, in honor of this year being pie year, I made my first fruit pie! I made a simple peach pie with a pre-made crust and pre-made filling. I know, I know, if I'm going to do it, do it all the way....but it was fantastic! The only flaw was that I went to put cinnamon sugar on it and ended up putting pepper on it! Thankfully tape worked. Seriously, I put tape around my fingers and dabbed it up.

Getting ready to go in

Fresh out of the oven. The crust got a tad burned at the edges, but otherwise it was great!

I had a nice big slice. It didn't really stay together the greatest, but it tasted wonderful. Not too rich and not too plain.

Now, why did I say Pi at the top? Because of a new ring! It didn't come out exactly like I imagined, but pretty darn close and it looks great and unique

The top one is a textured rugged looking one. The bottom one is the pi ring! It's the newest size which goes from 8 to 10. The smaller ones go from 6.5 to 8. It fits comfortably!

I'm also working on a ring with stones. It's drying right now, so you'll see it tomorrow!

As always, stay safe, warm and take care.

I carry your heart in mine

This is a very special saying/quote to me because my friend and I will forever carry the hearts of our lost little ones in ours. This quote has long been used to express love for a lost loved one, a new addition to the family (adopted, foster or biological) or even the loss of a beloved pet.

Here are some better pictures of the necklace I made up and photographed last night.

Tomorrow is on to new adventures and new ideas.

Until then, take care. We're expecting snow and I know the north east states are going to get hit hard. I hope everyone stays safe and warm!

A Custom Customer

I love making new things, especially for people I know. That's why I was so excited to create this new necklace.

Please forgive the photos, I took them with my phone, in the bathroom and in poor lighting.

A very good friend of mine asked me to make this as a baby shower gift. I've had this particular design in mind for a while, so I thought this was perfect timing.

It's a very simple idea: sterling silver link chain with a thin (1/4") ID tag and a birthstone on each side. It's light, it's casual and dressy and personalized. I'm actually making one for myself once I order more supplies.

I'm also going to work on making aluminum and brass save the date necklaces/key chains. That way there can be different sparkles and colors out there.

Rings need to go up as well. I have them photographed, but I'm horrid at descriptions. I wish I could just create and take pictures and send it to someone else to figure out, haha. If only.

Well. It's 10:22pm and I'm needing to network.

Until tomorrow, take care and stay safe.

What did you do last night?

Me? I got my ears pierced!!

Now, I've had them pierced, many times, before and I just had to do it again. Normally, I have some sort of reaction to whatever I put in my ear, but I'm going to make sure that doesn't happen again.

Why is it so important I get my ears pierced? Because I want these:

These are created by Limegreenmodern on Etsy

I'm in complete love with all her mini earrings. The blue ones are my favorite because, well, blue is my favorite color. Cobalt blue in particular. It's very rare to see me without blue. I even have a blue ring so that I always have something on me that is blue. Wow, I just said blue a lot. Haha.

This also gives me a chance to wear my own earrings and create things based on my own style that I can make special just for me. Crossing my fingers I can actually wear the ones I want!

Take care and stay safe!

New design stamps!

I'm happy to say I have all of my newest stamps in and stamped on products!

Newest: Lips, Christian Fish, Coffee Cup, Cake, Owl, Awareness Ribbon and Cupcake!

I made up a cuff the other day with the coffee cup, if you know me, you know my addiction.

The cuff says "If you can read this, make sure I've had my (coffee) - Or else" I thought it fit me (and probably a few others) fairly well.

I'm working on making some simple earrings using these new designs and working on new designs for necklaces and rings. I need to get more necklaces done! Shoot me some ideas and I'll give you a fantastic discount if you decide you want it for yourself. The only catch is that I will photograph it and put the pictures on Etsy and Artfire!

Rings and things!

Not really "and things", mainly just rings. But RINGS!

This ring is a secret message ring. The outside is textured and the inside can say whatever you'd like. I put "i carry your heart" because it's something meaningful to many, especially me.

This ring is 1/4" wide and is actually a square style. I have larger fingers so it fit as a pinky ring, and fairly comfortably at that, but is adjustable. Simple and stamped with a date or name, I think it's a good addition to any jewelry collection.

I love this ring! If you can tell, I made it with pink letters! I think it turned out very well. The aluminum makes it pop out.

The lips stamp is one of the new design stamps! I love it. The ring 'says' "kiss me love me" but the kiss is the lips and the love is the heart! I thought it turned out well. The ring is actually aluminum and very comfortable!

This is actually sterling silver and I'm sure you can guess what 1 4 3 is. It's "I Love You". Each number corresponds to the number of letters in each word. Then I put a small heart on the end to help seal the deal and express the all over love.

Swap it up

On Etsy, there are some sellers who trade as well as sell. They trade everything you can think of. It's amazing.

I was fortunate enough to trade with an awesome seller AllJust4You.

I got some amazing cards and pins! I love them so much. I actually included them already in a couple packages that went out today. ;-)

I love them so much! Expect these to show up regularly in my packages from now on.

In other news, I have to mention the little man. He's had speech difficulties due to his prematurity. Well, he's been with his speech therapist for nearly a year and we're at 65 words! He knows all his letters (points and selects) and can say most as well. He also knows red, green, yellow and blue (says and selects)! It's amazing! Hopefully we now know everything we'll need if we have another little one with the same difficulties in the language department.

Take care and stay safe!

1120

^ see that number up there. That's how many letters/numbers I just finished stamping on 40 washers. Oh my goodness, that's a lot. Plus the ones I messed up on, made up as a prototype and test. Now tonight I get to color, clear and polish them, put them in bags and mail them to New York in the morning! This, so far, has been my largest quantity order to date.

Thankfully Noah is feeling better and the hubby is home today to help give me some time to work.

Tomorrows work will be shipping the order and listing new creations. These include a dog tag (key chain/necklace) and several rings. One of which has pink letters. Hopefully, soon, I will be able to provide colored stamped pieces. Colored letters that is!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend! It's cold and snowy here.

Steroids

Normally we see steroids as something evil. We see them as monster creators.

Well, they're still that, lol. At least in this house they are. Noah's cough hasn't gotten any better and he hasn't gotten any more sleep. That's especially true for today. He was given a steroid (for 4 days) to help with his cough. He woke up at 7am and has been awake since. It's now 6:30pm. He's never been awake longer than 7 hours! This is a cruel form of punishment for parents. Haha. The hard part is, though, that he's also on a nebulizer with Albuterol and his cough isn't any better. We'll see how tonight goes though......

In other news!

I made a new treasury today! This one is all about photos, the different emotions, images and way to carry them with you.

Now on ArtFire!

Have you never heard of ArtFire? I actually hadn't until I started up at Etsy. It's a completely different site that acts similarly to Etsy. You can browse handmade items, supplies and other things, and sell there.

Now, in all honesty, I haven't browsed much on there myself, but I've heard great things. Right now, I'm just trying to focus on how to set up a shop there! I can't wait to have the time to actually look around on Etsy and ArtFire. My next step after these two sources is to have my own website. That wont be for a while, but I'm hopeful!

Check out my ArtFire shop! CLICK HERE

Please forgive the fact there are not many listings, I'm working on that, I promise!

It really is winter

I guess it is time to face it, it's winter. Here in KS they normally start in October or November. This season, we didn't have a single snow accumulation until the new year. In fact there was a day in December where it actually got up to 74 degrees! It's insane!

Anyway. This weekend, Aaron came home from work not feeling well and slept from 8:30pm until 6am. He was kind enough to let me sleep in some because Noah has had some build up in his chest and coughs all day and night. Sunday and Monday were miserable! Aaron fought the flu and Noah had interrupted sleep from coughing.

I snapped this picture of them Monday morning. Aaron was cold and Noah wanted to match. Haha

Yay! Ok, not so much. Today is Wednesday and everyone is mostly better. Aaron's back in classes and Noah isn't coughing as much. I on the other hand have been feeling like my body has been fighting something, but I'm on top of vitamins, OJ and coffee (to keep me awake).

Well, I'm off to pour some more coffee ;-)
